Harnessing Our Ocean Wealth calls for a strengthening of our maritime identity, increased awareness of the value, opportunities and societal benefit of our oceans, as well as improving engagement with the ocean. Through our Explorers Education Programme and outreach events such as SeaFest, the Marine Institute aims to inspire a new generation of ocean champions and inform society on the value of Ireland’s marine resource, the importance of our ocean and the work of the Irish Marine Institute. Explorers Education Programme Image

Explorers Education Programme

The Explorers Education Programme aims to inspire schoolteachers and their students in developing their interest, knowledge and engagement in our ocean. Supported by the Marine Institute and funded under the Marine Research Programme by the Irish Government, the programme provides cross curricular lesson plans, resources and activities that support the national curriculum. The Programme also provides teachers training and CPD courses approved by the Department of Education and outreach experts visit schools around the coast of Ireland.
