Northeast Harbor is on Mount Desert Island, site of the spectacular Acadia National Park. Well-known residents have included Barbara Bel Geddes, actress, better known as JR's mom.

Things to do

Shop North e ast Harbo r's delightful main street, right up the hill from the docks.  Visit Abbe Museum (Native American history culture and archeology), Great Harbor Maritime Museum and Petite Plaisance. Check out Acadia Park Carriage Tour if you are feeling less energetic, or hike around NE Harbor or in Acadia Par k.   The park service schedules specials kids Acadia workshops or programs but the schedule is released during the season. The Island Explorer will take you anywhere in the park. Take a ferry ride over to Little Cranberry lsland and have lunch at Islesford Dock.

For more refined activities, tour the Asticou Terraces: Azalea Gardens , Thuya Lodge and Gardens before cocktails at the Asticou Inn. Have tea at the Jordan Pond House.  Play tennis at the marina courts $10/hr.

Boating Information

Marina Northeast Harbor Municipal Marina has dockage – $1.50per ft. up to 40 ft., $2 per ft. over 40 ft. ; $3/night for 30 amp; $5 for 50 amp.
Moorings

Northeast Harbor Municipal Moorings – There are about 60 transient moorings (including floats) available in North East Harbor, but they cannot be reserved in advance. If you wish to stay on a mooring, the Harbormaster suggests that you plan to be in North East Harbor by 1000. Call the Harbormaster on Channel 9 or 68, and you will be escorted to an available mooring or float. Rafting is permitted. $15.00 per night up to 59' LOA.
