Pump-Out

Champlin’s onsite oncall.  Holding tanks are required in the Great Salt Pond. Efficient high-speed pump-out via 3 boats on ch 73. Tips appreciated.

Champlin’s has 25 toilets and 30 showers. BI Boat Basin & Payne’s showers for marina guests only. Coin operated public showers at Fred Benson Town Beach .

Launch

Champlin’s launch is free to marina guests and the mooring field.  Oldport Marine ch 68 at BI Boat Basin .

Boat Yards

Block Island has two units for hauling boats out of the water.  One is the green fork lift owned and operated by Ken LaCoste, owner of Block Island Marine. It can handle boats up to 30 feet. LaCoste also operates a marine supply store in the BIMI building. The other piece of boat-hauling equipment is a hydraulic trailer. Operated by Tony Edwards, owner of A.H. Edwards Marine, and Howie Rice, owner of Rice Construction, the trailer can haul large boats.

Intercity Connections: Adventure East (718-601-4707) and Rhode Island Public Transit Authority operates buses to the Point Judith Ferry. LIRR connects with the ferry in Montauk. Amtrak at New London provides direct access to the ferry, at Westerly provides access by cab to the airport, and at Kingston RI to the ferry.
